      T. Kosintseva won the 2007 Ladies’ European

      Breaking News

Going into the final round of the European Championship, GMs Andrei Volokitin (UKR, 2654) and Vladislav Tkachiev (FRA, 2652) are leading with 7½ points out of 10. 33 players are tied for 3rd with 7 points!!

The key last round matchup will be:

      Jakovenko (7) – Volokitin (7½)
      Tomashevsky (7) – Tkachiev (7½)

Both leaders have Black in the final round. Can they hold?

On the women’s side, the younger sister Tatiana Kosintseva has won the tournament with 1 round to go. Her score is 9 points in 10 games and 1 of her 2 draws was to her older sister Nadezhda Kosintseva.

Congratulations to Tatiana! Garry Kasparov told me a few years ago that Tatiana is the most talented Russian female players right now. I guess she is proving him right.

Volokitin has blunderd a oiece against Jakovenko. Jakovcenko is winning the Euro 07.

        his latest tourneis:
        Pamplona 2
        Russian champ, 1-2
        WAZ B 2-5
        Aeroflot 2-3
        Poikovski 1
        Euro 1-2

I kinda enjoy his games. Nice tactician, excels in endings. I remember the reaction to Susan’s “endgamers list” (“who is Jakovenko?) I guess we gotta know.
