Tajikistan supports FIDE President, not Karpov

Anatoly Karpov, Chess election, FIDE, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov

Nazarov on the Tajikistan support for FIDE President
      Karpov’s statement declared false

A.Nazarov, Vice President of the Tajikistan Chess Federation, says in a letter to FIDE secretariat and media that Anatoly Karpov’s claims of support from are Tajikistan are not true.

      To the FIDE Secretariat,

After May 14th, 2010 a letter of Anatoly Karpov was published in several media and websites, stating that several Federations of several countries are supporting his candidacy to the position of the FIDE President, including Tajikistan.

This information is not correct. Moreover, at the meeting of the Tajikistan Chess Federation Board, (minutes N2 dated 2 June 2010), it was unanimously resolved to support the candidacy of the incumbent President of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov at the forthcoming Presidential elections which shall be held in Khanty-Mansiysk in autumn of 2010.

The official site of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov’s campaign comments, “Why would the Karpov Team resort to such tactics?! The answer is simple, they need to give people a sense that they are in control when in fact their actions are an act of desperation.”

Typical BS propaganda by the USCF. Karpov never got this nomination.

I can not confirm the Truth but feel happy that with every Controversy at least Tajikistan is known to more and more people. Tajikistan is just wonderful land and most beautiful people.
