      Technorati Experts?

      Blog, Technorati

I am playing around with a few features on technorati.com. Is any of you a technorati expert? This is what came up when I typed http://technorati.com/search/susanpolgar.blogspot.com

      Rank: 18,404 (528 links from 197 blogs)

The obvious is there are 197 blogs linking to my blog. What does rank 18,404 mean? Is this the ranking in chess or ranking in all blogs? And what does 528 links mean? What is the difference between 528 and 197? And how do find out about the rankings of the most popular chess blogs?

      Thanks!

528 links in 127 blogs means that some of these blogs are linking to you many multiples of times!

127 blogs total, with 528 links = roughly 4.2 links on average.

If you want to see your Technorati “Ranking” for chess blog, you can search and then sort on authority: http://www.technorati.com/blogs/chess+blog?sort=authority

The more people link to you, the more “Authority” you have.

        You’re site is number one!

And Chess Blog for Girls is on the third page.

My name is James O’Fee and i am Editor of the blog of Impala Publications, a company owned by GM Ray Keene.

I quote Susan Polgar’s blog frequently and, when I do, I create a link to her site. So far I have created at least 32 links in the last year. See-

That is just one blog site!

I have my own personal blog as well, and would have linked there to Susan’s too.

Well, you outrank the three most prominent blogs in my field of theoretical computer science:

Computational Complexity by Lance Fortnow / Bill Gasarch

Shtetl-Optimized by Scott Aaronson. See especially this chess-related item.

        in-theory, bu Luca Trevisan.

Per the comment by “Aaron” with percentiles toward the end of Shtetl’s current item, this is out of about 3 million blogs tracked by Technorati.
