Texas Tech sponsors the 2007 Denker and Polgar

      Denker, Polgar, scholastic, Texas Tech

Mr. Dewain Barber, chairperson of the Denker Committee, received a complete tour of the magnificent campus of Texas Tech University today. He was shown a number of places where Texas Tech can host chess events from 10 – 5,000 or more players! He was thoroughly impressed with what he saw.

The official sponsorship contract for the 2007 Denker Tournament of HS Champions and the 2007 Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls will be signed tomorrow, which will include 2 full scholarships to the 2 winners. These 2 events will be held in Cherry Hill, New Jersey in late July.

Texas Tech will also host the Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls for the next 5 years, beginning in 2008. Special thanks to Texas Tech University for the generous sponsorships and for supporting chess!

This is a great deal. I hope TT will host the Denker as well.

Susan do you mean 2008. The copy says 2007. I suspect there is a typo.

        Awesome Susan.

You are doing so much for chess while others do nothing but complain and attack you.

Does that mean that the Polgar this year will not be at the US Open?

Nothing change for 2007. However, for 2008, the girls and their families will save more than $50,000 + at least 1 full scholarship and other goodies.

The Denker has no scholarship sponsor in 2008 as of now per the decision of the USCF EB.

        Best wishes,

Goichberg and Schultz will do everything in their power to control the USCF even if that means that the kids will suffer. We now see the real Goichberg in action.

Goichberg and Schultz have acted irresponsibly and not in the best interest of the USCF. They never visited the campus of TT. They never asked Susan or Dewain Barber of the details. They insulted the sponsors before even knowing about the facts. In fact, Goichberg went out of his way to lie to the USCF member. This is coming from the man who controls his for profit CCA and non-profit USCF. This is a big conflict of interest.

Time for big changes. It’s time to let the past regime go.

        Susan,
I think the positive direction you are taking the tournaments is much needed. SInce the USCF seems disinterested in attending to our scholastic students welfare and see them only as a profit center; someone of your character is to be applauded for moving forward. There will be those who scream and rant because this move will wrest dollars from their pockets. Others will rant and rave against you and Mr. Barber simply because they are professional gadflys that want to protest simply for the benefit of their own ears.

Keep up the great work. You are a gem amongst so much dirt.
        Rob
