      Thamaraselvi Wins Women’s Chess Title

      Thamaraselvi of Velammal with eight points (in nine rounds) won the Ramco 32nd Rachel Paranjothy chess tournament for women at Ethiraj College for women.

      After Thamaraiselvi and Janani were tied for the first position, a better tie-break score helped the former bag the title and winner’s purse of `5000. IM Manuel Aaron and WGM Meenakshi gave away the prizes.

      Inter-school Games

      Saveetha Engineering College will conduct a state level inter-school and engineering collegiate tournament in cricket (men), volleyball (men), football (men), kabaddi (men), handball (men), kho-kho (men) table tennis (men and women), ball badminton (men and women) and throw ball(women). Events for schools will be held from January 28 to 30, while those for colleges will be held from February 3 to 5.
