Barack Obama, Chess Blogs, FaceBook, Michelle Obama, Technology

I joined facebook around the beginning to middle of November 2008. I must admit that I am amazed with the technology and how it changed the way people keep in touch and connect with each other from all over the world. So many chess players are using it as well.

The same can be said about blogging. Very few people were aware of chess blogs when I started this one back in the end of May 2005. Today thousands and thousands of people visit my blogs from over 100 countries each day. The numbers go as high as over 130,000 bloggers per day during big chess events such as the World Championships or Olympiad, etc.

This is a big change from the day when people have to wait for weeks or months to get chess news. Even the new President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama are chess players.

This is why I feel that there is no better time than now to push hard to make chess a lot more popular and viable.

What is your source for this?

Yes! chess is growing in popularity as we enter a new intellectual age. In this new era, brainpower is going to be far more important than other, more primitive traits…

I find these figures surprising: there would surely be more reaction in the comments if so many were visiting per day.

actually according to http://www.webstats.com, you average 4,000 visitors per day making your blog worth about $13,000 in value, which is super excellent for a chess blog.

Quite often, people get confused between distinct visitors, visits, page impressions and page hits.

Is the 4,000/day actually distinct visitors or visits per day?
