The first event of the Las Vegas International Chess Festival is the chess camp conducted by GM Susan Polgar, GM Dimitry Gurevich, IM Ben Finegold and NM Tom Brownscomb.

The second event to kick off is the US G/10 Championship with GM J. Ehlvest, GM V. Akobian and many more strong players.Korchnoi is already here in Las Vegas trying to overcome the jetlag.

Since it is “sin city”, Vegas, are players permitted to place bets on games in the state of Nevada, and how would the USCF policy be enforced in states with liberalized gambling laws?

Monroi is covering it. Unclear on how many boards they will follow.

No, I lost to Ehlvest and later lost to Lakdawala to finish out of the money. Ehlvest took clear first.

The blitz tournament this evening features Nakamura, Ehlvest, Akobian, Gagunashvili, Gurevich and others. I’m not playing. They will be joined by Korchnoi and Shabalov in the main tournament starting tomorrow.

As I see it the American chess scene is basically very nice. The picture above the post and the comments brought me some memories from the eighties when I played in California. It was very nice experience to play tournaments in U.S. Susan is going to keep that special American way and to add to it by giving more opportunities for American players whether students, veterans, kids or professional masters.
        With a good luck blessing

P.s. fpawn , it seems you know how to lose with dignity. Good luck in your next games
