The chaotic state of the USCF

      Breaking News

The picture above shows the current state of the USCF. Where is the leadership? What is the direction of this organization? Does anyone even care?

I was hoping to start 2007 on a positive note. But unfortunately, it could not happen. Countless malicious lies and outrageous misinformation was posted on the OFFICIAL USCF FORUM today by a USCF Executive Board member for dirty political reasons. This actually happens EVERY SINGLE DAY! And it is allowed! The Executive Board so far has not taken any action to stop this madness.

Welcome to the USCF! As I said before, some of these chess politicians have no clue on how to improve the USCF. They have no clue on how to help chess grow. They have no new ideas. And they do not want anyone to change things for the better.

A few hours ago, I received an email from a friend in chess for over 20 years. He is probably one of the most well known people in the chess world. He said point blank that he is so disgusted with the state of top level organized chess that he is willing, ready and able to walk away from chess forever. He is not the only one. Many feel the same way. I love chess and I cannot sit still and see my sport collapse in the hands of these chess politicians.

That is precisely the reason why I chose to take on this battle to fight against these destructive chess politicians. I am sure they will try to make my life and my children’s lives a living hell. They already did. They spare no one! They attack everyone in their way.

I also hope that our friends and colleagues from other countries will do the same. It is time to fight back and get rid of the cancer. Organized chess cannot continue to endure this kind of massive internal destructions.

I have knocked down enough barriers in chess in my 30+ years career. I am fully committed to knock down another one! My plans, agenda and goals are already in place and they will be revealed at the proper time. But I need your help to save the USCF. It is up to us to stand up and fight for what we believe in. We can start by showing these destructive politicians the door in the next election.

With all due respect, I think that you would benefit by worrying less — a lot less — about unfair/negatve/false comments from the USCF peanut gallery. Forget about what’s on the USCF website, it isn’t important. Don’t be distracted by naysayers. As you know, leadership is about defining a positive vision and then rallying the troops to get there. So do it!

Compjon, a board member of the USCF is making a criminal charge. This is not something to ignore. Susan should sue the hell out of the USCF.

Today’s activity has certainly proved your point about how answering accusations really does no good.

I’m posting again because I want to reinforce the importance of audits. I do not understand why this point has not taken at the USCF forums but for a simple desire to attack no matter what. But maybe people don’t understand this area of financial management.

Let’s try to explain what’s involved this way.

Imagine that you are a brand new immigrant to the US, that you have little or no knowledge of US laws or business practices, in fact you can barely read and write. All you have is your basic common sense. Now imagine that you landed a job as an auditor.

Okay, so you walk in the door. You learn that the company’s Executive Director has just disappeared. No one’s minding the store. $3 million has also vanished.

My question: even as uneducated as that, would you look into this? What would you do? What about going into the desk of the ED who has disappeared? Look through the drawers, through his file cabinets, – how about looking at his computer to see if anything there might explain what happened?

Faced with this, does that sound like something you’d try? But wait a minute – his laptop cannot be found. Would you want to ask people in the office what happened to it? You think?

Someone tells you that someone named “Susan” came into the office and stole it.

As an auditor, would you want to look into this further? Would you want to alert the top people in the firm? Would you even want to alert the police?

Would you bring this up in the audit report?
        ———
So, now here we are back in the real world. Or at least in Sloan World. Was the $3 million lost or was it stolen? Did the ED really have a heart attack or did he run away to hide out from the scandal? Did Susan take the computer with permission or did she steal it? What files are on the missing laptop that could lead us to the missing $3 million? That’s what’s going on in Sloan World via the USCF forums.
        ———–
They are thrashing around all aspects of the case except for the elephant in the room. What does the audit report say?

If $3 million were really missing at all, how could the auditors missed that – laptop or no? I’ve misplaced quarters. Once I even lost my wallet. But it takes a special kind of stupid to misplace $3 million. And for trained, professional auditors to not know it’s missing.

The refusal of the Susan’s accusers to refer to the audit report can only lead to just one conclusion: it does not address the issue. NOTHING HAPPENNED!!!

I went into this at this length for one big reason. This is how all future such financial accusations should be handled. The finances were audited – and not by any uneducated incompetants, either – US law requires competance and independence in the auditors.

Next time somebody accuses Susan of something ask them for the audit report.

And that demand should put an end to any suspicions that reasonable people might have.

I am a USCF Life Member for over 30 years. USCF has always had problems. I just pray that Susan and her team gets elected. I will work to get out the local votes. I hope everyone does the same across the country and we will win.

I do not log onto uscf website. it is too negative. full of crazy postings. Sams’s postings are terrible to read.

I simply want a new uscf of nice people. god willing we will soon have that. I simply ask everyone to put in a little time campaigning locally for Susan.

        GO SUSAN GO.

        YOU HAVE MY VOTE

Walking away from chess and walking away from the USCF are two completely different things. It’s possible to do one without the other. You can walk away from the USCF and do great things for chess (maybe more easily than by staying with the USCF). And sometimes I think there are some folks who walked away from chess but stayed with the USCF. That’s why there is so many useless politicians there now.

The problem with sam sloan is not that he is a felon. I can forgive that. He is simply nuts. He is cookoo. He is a huge trouble maker who makes accomplishing things much harder.

I am NOT going to vote to get rid of Sam Sloan. Getting rid of Sam is a NEGATIVE idea.

I am DEFINITELY and POSITIVELY voting to put Susan in charge of USCF. We need Susan and I want to stay with that POSITIVE idea in my mind.

I am not going to bash anyone at uscf. I am simply going to work to put Susan in charge. I know this is our one opportunity for positive change. we really must accomplish this task of getting Susan elected.

Belonging to Japanese Chess Association, I don’t know exactly what kind of a problem child Sloan is. But what I’m offended is his inaccurate knowledge about Japanese chess (shogi) and his slighting view over the Japanese women including his own wife.

I was reading some of the postings before they shut it off to non members. it was incredible bad. just incredible. Nothing like it anywhere on the web that I had run into.

But I agree with another poster here.

Let us forget the negative and focus on the positive. Let us simply work to get Susan elected. forget the others. With Susan elected the others will not be elected and the problem will be solved. The problem will then be meaningless because the people will be gone.

But let us all vote from a positive frame of mind. Vote for Susan not vote against anyone else.

The old era of decades of problems will dissolve away. we will enter a new era of positive chess growth in USA.

I am a member of uscf and could read the postings today. But I choose to not read them. It is like being in a war watching people get shot and bleed to death in front of you. It abuses the inner feelings. I do not want to read the uscf forums member fighting because it abuses my inner feelings similar to being present in a war. of course war is much worse, but I use it to illustrate a point. the point being that reading those postings abuses one’s inner peace and calm and feelings. It is not good for me to read them so I dont.

I am so happy to see Susan running. I would not miss this election for the world. I have never been so excited about anyone running. well I was excited about John F Kennedy running. that was fun but I was too young to vote back then. My membership is all paid up and I will be voting for sure for Susan and all her friends.

        TWO THINGS…
        1. I support Susan 100% on her quest for a new and refreshed USCF.
        2. I just renew my membership for another year in order to support Susan’s run and having been a member for a long time I got no more motivation to support the USCF as it is right now and as it has been managed for quite a while. I just had it. No more. Susan wins… I’ll stay. Susan loses… I’m out for good. There’s out there plenty more and better than the USCF where to play and enjoy chess. And believe me I’ll talk people as much as I can into not joining this sorry organization.
        …AS SIMPLE AS THAT.

How many people actually read the posts in the USCF issues forum? I can’t believe very many. I think Sloan’s election was a fluke, due to most people (including myself) not paying attention to the election and to others (like the Shahade family) who did not receive ballots. If each of us do our part to spread the word about the importance of the coming election (when exactly is it?), Sloan will be back to driving a cab or whatever it was that he was doing before.

Sam Sloan belongs in a mental institution and not on the USCF EB. Time for him to go. The more he attacks you and your team, the more people will vote for you and your team. All he does is energize the people to rally against him.

When are the elections? I’ll be at the National Elementary Championships in May with my son and his chess team and I will work on spreading the word to the other 2000 plus parents there. I joined the USCF this year just so that I could vote in the election (as my son’s scholastic membership doesn’t carry voting rights) and will encourage other parents to do the same to vote Susan and the rest of her slate in and vote Sloan out.

i dont know much about the politics of the uscf. if this is merly a power struggle for control or something more devious going on. i just want to know how does the uscf apparent corruption ruin players chess rankings or affect there games in any way. what im really concerned about is cheating in chess . particularly the cheating that was uncovered by the indian player.im sure if he has been caught theres plenty of others doing the same. what kind of measures will the head of any chess organization do to guarantee no cheating. i dont care whether it is uscf or fide but someone must stop this plague. The game’s value is at stake. people keep finding ingenious methods to cheat so that theres no way to tell if the person is a good player or a good cheater.
