Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
What’s the big deal about Carlsen? Nakamura is way more talented. Kasparov dropped Carlsen to coach Nakamura, the next world champion.
lol
Carlsen is taking off from the field like a rocket. He is making the history of chess, becoming a living legend not comparable with any other active player, including Nakamura.
I’m a Nakamura fan too. He is one of the world’s best and I enjoy his style of play. However, it’s silly to claim he’s better, or even equal to Carlsen. Reality is a little thing we should all pay attention to.
Why not be a fan of both, and stop saying silly things?
I see Magnus like a reminiscence of young Bobby Fischer – he is bold, yet struggling for words in interviews, he’s appearance is clumsy, but his play is beyond comprehension, like from another era.
Every tournament he plays – he wins by demolishing his opponents.
He works pretty much on his own, just like Fischer used to and he’s not playing conventional lines.
And it seems by the time WCC match is due this year his elo-rating advantage over Vishy is going to be similar to that of Bobby over Spasky back in 1972, with probably similar match outcome.
Magnus has no real opponent, he is in a class of his own and he hasn’t even yet reached his peak.
