      The new #1

      money, Wealth

No, it is not the new #1 in chess. Anand is still the King of the Hill. It is the new #1 in $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Mexico’s Carlos Slim and Microsoft’s Bill Gates have been overtaken in the race to be the “World’s Richest Person,” at least for today, according to reports from India’s news media.

The Economic Times and the Press Trust of India reported Monday that Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and largest shareholder of India’s Reliance Industries, surpassed Slim, Gates and the well-known investor Warren Buffett, due to a strong rally in Reliance shares. Ambani owns almost half of Reliance’s outstanding stock.

Here’s how the Indian reports rank the top five as of today:

      Mukesh Ambani – $63.2 billion
Carlos Slim Helu – $62.2993 billion
William (Bill) Gates – $62.29 billion
      Warren Buffett – $55.9 billion
      Lakshmi Mittal – $50.9 billion

Here is the full article on CNBC. Here is Mr. Ambani’s profile.

really, who gives a sh!? about the filthy rich! as the person above says, it’s disgusting. we’re heading back into feudal times where the rich represent a tiny fraction of the population and the middle class merges with the poor to represent the vast majority of people. is therre no better way to divide up the cake?

How far down on the list do you have to go before you get to a chess player? Garry’s book is doing well, isn’t it? :o)

        I agree with anonymous 1 and 2.

My cake tastes delicious, Thank You very much!

        Secrets to getting rich:

        1. Turn off your T.V. (Throw it away).
        2. Walk about 2 miles a day. (No doctor bills because you will be healthy).
        3. Brush your teeth. (No dentist bills because your teeth will be clean)
        4. Go to night college for about 3 years.
        5. Get a better job with your new college degree.
        6. Become rich.
        7. Listen to “poor” people complain about how “lucky” you are and how bad it is you have your wealth and how much they wish they had it… Bah-humbug.
        8. Encourage poor deadbeat friends and relatives to go to step 1.
        9. Continue to step 5 until you are rich. Repeat step 4 if a higher salary is necessary.

        Or,

‘Invent’ something trivial and obvious like ‘one-click shopping’. ‘Patent’ it and get federal authority to prevent others using it without your permission. Collect $2 billion for your hard work.
