yes definitely Taz. He was so handsome back then.

We all are so handsome when we are young.

I like some of his pictures where he had a mustasch.

If it where Ivanchuk the picture would have been in Black & White, It has to be Leko.

My first guess was peter leko. then i read some guessing Yasser. well Yaz it might be.

So these are the 2 contenders for the answer. I will give a slight edge to peter leko.

can anyone make a definitive identification? Can anyone say it is not Yaz or not Leko?

That is Seattle transplant Yassir Seirawan.

At a recent local class tournament, a fellow told the following story about his first encounter with Seirawan, when both were teenagers:

He walked by my game, stopping only briefly to look. Later when someone’s parents were driving us home, Seirawan suddenly explained to me a few winning variations I could have played (no chess board was open in the car). I knew then that Seirawan was something special.

Indeed, Seirawan was a WCChampion candidate multiple times. At times in his younger days, Seirawan seems cocky to some, insisting that he would win the WCChamp title some day. I presume he was trying to leverage the power of positive thinking.

Seirawan recently relocated to San Diego.
