      Topalov broke 2800 again

      Bulgaria, Topalov, World #1

Bulgarian chess-player Veselin Topalov went beyond the record 2800 points according to ELO rating
Published on December 20, 2008 at 5:06 PM BG

The leader in the world chess ranking and former World Chess Champion Veselin Topalov won the super cup in the Chinese city of Nanjing a round before its end, with which he went beyond the magic limit of 2800 ELO rating points.

The award fund of the cup amounts to 250,000 euro of which Topalov will receive 80,000.

His best achievement so far was 2813 ELO rating points in July 2006. Only Gary Kasparov has ever had a higher ELO rating than the Bulgarian chess master.

        He was never world champion!

…he was only FIDE world champion like Khalifman, Ponomariov and Khasimdhzanov…

Also Kramnik, Botvinik, Karpov never were world champions too. :)))
Ok, let Topa never was. He is just strongest chessplayer of our time.

Kamsky beat Kramnik & Karpov in a match, Kramnik beat Topalov in a match. Kamsky has tendency to rise to the occasion…so not so easy. Kamsky also beat out about 127 other GMs in the FIDE tourney a little while back.

Strange case regarding Topalov. Most chess geniuses show their caliber at a much younger age than Topalov ever did. Something is not quite right. At any rate Topalov and gang bungled against Kramnik, despite so crudely getting a free game!.

You obviously don’t know what you are talking about. Topalov was for example in Top 10 in July 1993, and was #4 on the world in
July 1996. So he is in the top for quite a while, and not since 2005.

topalov was also world champion u-14 and world vice champion u-16 and also smoked kasparov at 18 years of age.
