1.Rc8 Qxc8 2.Nxe6 but black has Qc1+ 3.Kf2 Qd2+ and white’s king cannot escape.
1. Be7 I thought this was going to be the move. 1…Qxe7 2.Rc8+ Qd8 3.Nxe6 Nxd6 4.exd6 Qxc8 5.Qe7+. Also, victory is white’s after 1…Kxe7 2.Nxe6+ Kxe6 3.Rc6+ Nd6 4.Rxd6 mate. Alas, black can just ignore the bishop and play 1…Qb8 when it is unclear how to proceed.
Then I thought, why not Nxe6 first?
1.Nxe6! and now 1…Qxh4 (1…fxe6 2.Rc8! Qxc8 4.Qe7 mate) 2.Rd8+ Qd8 3.Rxd8 mate.
1. Nxe6 looks strong.
1. -, Qxh4 2. Rc8+, Qd8 3.Ng7#
1. -, fxe6 2. Rc8 [Qe7#] 1:0
Did I oversee anything important?

This is instructive. I looked at, in order:
1.Rc8 Qxc8 2.Nxe6 but black has Qc1+ 3.Kf2 Qd2+ and white’s king cannot escape.
