Ukraine stuns China, India falls to Georgia in round 8

China, Turkey, Women's World Team Championship

Ukraine, without Lahno, stunned China in round 8. However, I believe that China may have clinched gold anyway even if they lose to India in the final round due to better tiebreaks.

Russia is behind China by 2 match points and 5.5 game points. Therefore, even if Russia wins 4-0 and China loses 0-4, it is not possible to to make up the difference of 5.5 points. Of course this is only based on my unofficial calculation.

      Round 8 results

      UKRAINE 2½ – 1½ CHINA
      INDIA 1 – 3 GEORGIA
      TURKEY ½ – 3½ GREECE
      RSA 0 – 4 RUSSIA
      ARMENIA 2½ – 1½ VIETNAM

India unfortunately has no depth. Apart from Humpy and now Harika, the others just can’t cope with tougher opposition.

High possibility that India might not get a medal. Odds are Russia and Ukraine will win the next match and India lose.
