      U.S. Amateur West Chess Championship
      May 26-28, 2007

      LOCATION: The Holiday Inn Palo Verde, 4550 S. Palo Verde Rd., Tucson, AZ 85714. If coming from out of town, take I-10 to Palo Verde Rd. (exit 264B) and go North a 1/4 mile. Hotel rates (if by 5/11): $64 (single), $72 (suite). Reservations: (520) 746-1161, mention “SACA”.

      SECTIONS: Championship (U2200) and Reserve (U1600): 6/SS. Time control is 40/2, 25/1. Scholastic (K-8 / U1000): Three separate 1-day tournaments; 4/SS. Time control is G/40. Chess sets and boards provided for tournament play only. Chess clocks not provided!

      REGISTRATION: By mail or at site only. USCF membership is required for all sections. Championship & Reserve: Sat. 5/26 8:30 – 9:30AM Scholastic: 8:30 – 9:30AM (each day).

      ENTRY FEES: Championship & Reserve: $55 if received by Wed. 5/23. $65 if after 5/23 or at the site. Scholastic: $15 each day or $40 for all three days if received by 5/23. Additional $10 if after 5/23 or at the site.

      SCHEDULE: Championship & Reserve: Sat. 10am, 4pm; Sun. 10am, 4pm; Mon. 9am, 3pm. Scholastic: 10am, 11:30am, 1:30pm, 3pm (each day). Byes: ½ point byes are available for all rounds if requested prior to start of round two.

      PRIZES: Free entry to the National Open to 1st place in Championship and Reserve sections.

      Championship Section: Chronos chess clock + plaque to 1st – 3rd Place. Plaque to top 1900-1999, 1800-1899, 1700-1799, 1600-1699, U1600, Senior 50+, Junior U19 and Junior U13. Plaque and two Ultimate chess sets to Best Family Pair.

      Reserve Section: Chronos chess clock + plaque to 1st, Digital clock + plaque to 2nd, 3rd. Plaque to top 1300-1399, 1200-1299, 1100 -1199, U1100, Unrated, Senior 50+, Junior U13, Junior U10. Plaque and two Ultimate chess sets to Best Family Pair.

      Scholastic Sections: (each day) Digital clock + trophy to 1st. Trophy to 2nd-5th. Trophy to Top U800, U600, Unrated.

      Other Prizes: DVDs donated by Susan Polgar Foundation for door prizes! Analog clock to Biggest Upset of each round (Championship & Reserve only). Digital clock to Best Game (Championship & Reserve only). Chronos clock to Scholastic player with highest combined score for all three 1-day tournaments.

      Date: Friday 5/25/07; Location: Holiday Inn Palo Verde; Format: G/5, 5 Rounds, Double SS; Entry Fee: $10 ($15 to non-tournament players); Reg.: 6:00–6:45pm at site; Rounds: begin at 7:00pm Prizes: ($$b/20) $75-$45, Top U1600 $30, Medallion to top K-8, K-6, K-3.
