Monroi coverage of this event is brilliant! The boards are professional, real time movements, everything is just perfect. Thanks to the lady behind all these masterpieces! Forgot her name now, but everyone knows her already. It’s the greatest of pities she is not a member of the world chess federations staff.

Zejka Malobabic is the Mona Lisa of chess. I adore her.

Irina just lost a pawn to the zero-pointer. Let’s hope her luck prevails the lack of material. It’s the only way to catch up with the sure US winner Anna Zatonskih.

Zeljka has done for chess more than many world champions and national organizations have. Hopefully she got some inner satisfaction and even profits from these sacrifices she made.

The US women’s championship 2009 is flawed by Susan not participating in it. When will the chess inquisition stop haunting her? She is the best US chess ever had, 1000x better in marketing and honesty in all done, than compared to the 2nd best – the chess propaganda made when Bobby won the world title.

‘Zeljka has played chess for twenty years’

I can’t find any games of her registered under the surname “Malobabic” in the mega database 2009. What was her maiden name?

I insist calling this a USCF championship, not a US championship, for obvious reasons.

In fairness, it is my understanding that Susan has essentially retired from tournament play — voluntarily.

The USCF does have an activity requirement to participate in Championship events, which is why Susan did not receive an invitation. Had she been an active tournament player, she would have been invited. Likewise, Yasser Seirawan did not receive an invitation to the 2009 U.S. Championship due to his inactivity.
