      USA 1-1 Japan at the end of regulation, Japan wins in penalty kicks!

      Japan, Team USA, Women's Soccer, World Cup

      Alex Morgan scored a great goal for the US to take a 1-0 lead. But a series of mistakes by the US defenders allowed Japan to even up the score at 1-1. Even though the US dominated this game, Japan fought very hard to stay in the game.

      Now they will go to a 30 minute extra time session.

      Another beautiful header by Wambach to give the US a 2-1 lead!

      Penalty kicks!

      Japan crushed the US in penalty kicks! The US missed the first 3 penalty kicks! A well deserved victory for Japan! Great clutch performance for Japan!

      Big congratulations to Japan! They fought with their hearts!

        One of the best soccer games that I’ve ever seen, simply fantastic!

        Anyone who knows anything about football/soccer knows that penalty kicks are a completely different to the game and are an absurd end to the contest… though they don’t really know any better alternatives. Everyone will score and miss a certain percentage of penalties, a professional goalkeeper guesses the direction every time, they’re a bit of a lottery.
