      Viani gets 2nd International Master Norm

      Mangalore September 1, 2010: Mangalorean chess prodigy Antonio Viani D’cunha has earned his Second International Master Norm following his performance in the Abu Dhabi Masters chess tournament.

      Viani scored 4.5/9 against a very strong opposition which included not less than 5 GMs! Viani has also won the Team Gold in the Under 16 category at the Asian youth Chess Championship at Beijing, China which was held in July and individually placed 8th.

      He will be representing Karnataka State for the forthcoming subjunior Nationals which will be held in Delhi from 4th to 11th Sept 2010.

      Viani holds the Fide rating 2208 and the current highest Fide Rating Player of South Karnara District.

      Viani is the son of Mr Harold D’Cunha and Mrs Lydia D’Cunha of Mangalore and he is currently studying in St. Aloysius High School, Mangalore.
