      Vladislav Artemiev wins Andranik Margaryan Memorial

      Andranik Margaryan, Armenia, Vladislav Artemiev


      The 16-years old Russian junior Vladislav Artemiev won the Andranik Margaryan Memorial that was held on 8-16th January in Armenia.

      The round robin tournament, organized by the Chess Academy of Armenia, gathered ten young and promising players from China, Russia, Serbia, Iran, Denmark and Armenia.

      Artemiev finished clear first with 6,0/9 points, half a point ahead of the top-seeded Wen Yang.

      1. IM Artemiev Vladislav RUS 2570 – 6,0
      2. GM Wen Yang CHN 2592 – 5,5
      3-4. GM Hayrapetyan Hovik ARM 2456 and IM Mads Andersen DEN 2496 – 5,0
      5-6. GM Goganov Aleksey RUS 2581 and GM Gabuzyan Hovhannes ARM 2538 – 4,5
      7-8. FM Harutyunian Tigran K. ARM 2387 and GM Indjic Aleksandar SRB 2538 – 4,0
      9. IM Idani Pouya IRI 2508 – 3,5
      10. FM Aghasaryan Robert ARM 2477 – 3,0

      There were also Swiss tournaments for the various age groups – U18, U14, U12 and U10.

      Andranik Margaryan was the Prime Minister of Armenia from 12 May 2000 until his death on 25 March 2007.
