      Webster U wins 2014 PanAm InterCollegiate Chess Championship

      PanAm, SPICE, Webster University


      Webster University A team trailed UTD by 1/2 point going into the final round. It was a must win situation for Webster to retain the national title.

      Freshmen GM Illia Nyzhnyk and GM Vasif Durarbayli won with white while GM Ray Robson and GM Le Quang Liem drew with black to give Webster a 3-1 victory over UTD!

      Webster earns the #1 seed at the 2015 Final Four Championship.

      Webster C team upsets Columbia A team 3-1 to tie for 2nd with UTD and UMBC.



      Webster B drew Texas Tech A team 2-2 to finish tie for 5th.

      IM Ashwin Jayaram wins top board 1 prize 6-0
      GM Illia Nyzhnyk wins top board 2 prize 5-1
      GM Ray Robson ties for 1st for top board 3 prize 5.5-0.5
      GM Andre Diamant wins top board 4 prize 5.5-0.5

        Webster C is the most impressive. No GM and tied for 2nd. Ashwin Jayaram should be in Team A.

        Webster chess is nothing without Wesley So. He’s the real superstar. No one cares about the other players on the team.
