A neat geometric solution: 1.Rf8! Qf8 2.Qg6! Qg7 3.Nf6 Kf8 4.Qe8#. The fucus nicely shifts from f8 to e8. thank you Susan for the puzzle.
This mate in four was quite simple and requires less than 10 seconds and no computer.
1 rf8 qxf8 2. qg6+ qg7 3. nf6+ kf8 4. qe8
White stops black’s pawns by giving mate in 4,
Rf8+Qxf8 Qxg6+Qg7 Nf6+ Kf8 Qe8#.
1. Qc1
and blacks pawns will be annhilated, although it is a Pyrrhic victory.
