BECAUSE Filipino Grandmaster Wesley So can’t play for the Philippines or the United States, So will be part of the coaching staff of the Team USA in the coming months.
Susan Polgar, So’s coach at Webster University, said this on her blog, answering an online interview conducted by a Filipino scribe last week.
“As of right now, Wesley is playing for no team. He cannot play for the Philippines as that would reset his transfer time by another 2 years,” said Polgar.
Polgar explained that in addition, he already signed a binding contract to coach team USA.
So also cannot play for the US because the National Chess Federation of the Philippines has not released him yet.
“In the meantime, he has missed out on several big events already, and will continue to miss more important events until the NCFP releases him or the 2-year waiting period is up,” added Polgar.
Last week, July, 3, Wesley received an email from the NCFP Secretariat about the upcoming 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromso, Norway.
So’s name was included in the list of players playing for the national team, along with Oliver Barbosa, Julio Saddora, Eugenio Torre, and John Paul Gomez.
He told NCFP Chairman Propero “Butch” Pichay that he did make two requests to transfer federation last November and a month ago. So officially declined his official invitation to be part of the national team, and reaffirmed to Pichay that he will coach the US team after he failed to hear anything from the NCFP following the June 1 deadline to submit a roster for the Chess Olympiad.

NCFP is LIAR. The Philippine Team members to the Tromso Norway Chess Olympiad is DIFFERENT from the one they submitted to the organizers. All along they knew GM So will change Fed & will not play for the Philippines in the Olympiad but they denied knowing. If thats the case, then the winner of the Battle of the Grandmaster GM Eugene Torre really has no place in the Philippine Team to the chess olympiad. What would then be the role of GM Torre? Breaking News: Sources from inside NCFP CONFIRMS that the National Chess Federation of the Philippines President Prospero Pichay will NOT SIGN the RELEASE or CONSENT to TRANSFER of GM Wesley So to the US Chess Federation. The source also says that Pichay was fuming mad when GM Wesley So rejected their demands to play for the Philippine Team to the Tromso Norway Chess Olympiad and opted to sign an agreement with US Chess Federation to serve as Coach of the US Team to the Chess Olympiad. NCFP Pichay decision NOT to grant GM So request was accordingly meant as PUNISHMENT for refusal to obey Pichay’s order. So its FINAL GM Wesley So should sit out 1 more year before he can play for the US Chess Federation or specifically he will be eligibile to play for the US Chess Team on September 2015 only. We cannot do anything NCFP President Pichay has spoken and he says NO for an answer. Only a miracle can make NCFP President Pichay say YES.

The NCFP (Natl Chess Funds for Pichay) is extremely cruel to their players. The politicians gang up and hold their players to manipulate them to their whims. They hostage their players or ban them. These people in power are very abusive and corupt. This just demonstrate the filipino trait of their insensitivity to their own citizens.Yet they pride to be the only christian nation in Asia. During typhoon Haian, The US where the first to drop food to affected areas, ahead of anybody, even by the Philippine govt itself! However, There are stockpiles of relief goods already rotten in DSWD warehouses and customs pier not given to their sufferring citizens who were dying slowly at those crucial time. Even the used clothings and donated goods were found displayed in grocery stores.
