      Weston students win chess championship
      Tuesday, December 16, 2008

Four Weston students are members of the chess teams of Pierrepont School, which competed in the Fifth Annual New England Scholastic Championship, held at Mt. Snow, Vt.

Zachary Filler and Alexander Paolozzi, both of Weston, competed on the elementary school team, which placed first in the championship.

Weston residents Noah Arthurs, Caleb Shapiro and Nathaniel Zettler were part of the middle school team, which placed second in the competition.

The Pierrepont School chess team also placed first in the primary section.

Top individual prizes were also won by the students. Alexander placed second in the elementary school section, and Noah placed third in the middle school section. Pierrepont School in Westport provides academically engaged students with a vibrant, rigorous intellectual experience.

The Pierrepont chess team also includes Ethan and Zoe Finkelstein, Kaela McConnell, Alexander Clarke, Kenton Clarke, George Klein, Noah Arthurs, Alex and Matthew Huggins, Jared and Jacob Klegar, Julian Wang, Diego Baugh, and Kyle and Tyler Leite. Faculty members Daniel Lowinger, Abraham Kunin and Liam O’Rourke coach the team.
