I wold like to see Garry as FIDE president. He is a man of imoeccible character as well as an unbelievable chess player. But I fear honesty and integrity actually work against him at FIDE.

we know how he ran the PCA – dictatorial. Cmon, who is handing over the reins to him. He may get a few votes here and there. A dishonest person. Think of it. Gelfand, who may have got the only chance at WC, turned down his offer to be second. That is his credibility among the top players.. Obnoxious. mama spoilt this boy.. from beginning. If he was in America the Cops would have tasered him for biting.. Let him thank his stars that the Russian police were very kind inspite of his animal behavior.

Probably small. I bet even an inactive kasparov will make mincemeat of nakamura in chess though

I think the most important thing for Kasparov to be competitive at the highest level again would be to be so HIGHLY motivated to where he will be playing like it was for his life. I don’t think he can ever attain that mindset again.

FIDE takes t.ex. 20% tax on prize money etc. Some of these money end up in delegates pockets every 4th uear. To the voters from noen-western federations whom thereby earn a years income by voting Iljumzinoz. There are tons of proof. So Garry, there is only one thing to do unless you only want votes from the western countries- Open your wallet….sad but this i sth corrupt gang we deal with.

Garry Kasparov has done so much for the game of chess and no one can do a better job than him. I believe Mr. Kasparov has very good chances to become the next FIDE President. I wish him all the best!

Garry Kasparov is one of the Game’s Great. However, he isn’t one that brings people together. That is not in his personality. I would like to take a pass on him for the FIDE position.

I believe having Kasparov as the president of the FIDE would be good for Chess. Yes he was dictatorial when he ran the PCA, but he has less personal interests now and , worst case scenario, we would get a slightly dictatorial president WITH heart for the game, versus the current absolute dictator, with heart for only power and money. However, the chances of Kasparov getting elected would be low, he simply does not have the financial resources to his disposal to buy candidates, which Mr. Ilyumzhinov clearly does have.

It’s a matter of who is worse, and that is definitely the “alien abducted” incumbent.

Since Garry has “bottomless pockets” Rex on his side, he should have no trouble out bribing the delegates.

        I say Kasparov wins!

Where is Kasparov’s Mission to be the Russian President.. I think, Politics is not like chess, where you lose one game, you can be desperate to come back in another.

We have great respect for him, for his innovative spirits in continuing the Fischer’s legacy.

I think bringing the Russian Politics into chess world is not going to help his mission. It is about making that difference.

Certainly looking how chess has stabilised, Kirsan’s team has done well. It is not about replacing the regime or changing the financial model, to make chess look more affordable.

It is still a curse – What should be free is got to a fear of affordable.

We need innovative plans beyond what is established today. See the education, Politics, job and People have all different living constraint.

Chess is a highly Skilled Game, but we are limiting it to a Skilled Sport with Olympics Approach to benefit set of people, who are not working harder than ‘dedicating their life for chess’.

So I dont see value addition in what Kasparov is being to table.

Will he make FIDE an anti-Putin institution?

He and his politics are pathetic…
