…maybe some horsehead. The knight piece is known very good…. It resembles the chessgame very well…

Why does chess need a mascot?

trying to recall all members of the chess bestiary, I come up only with dragon and orangutan. So an orang riding a dragon.

Eagle or hawk. I think some kind of bird of prey would be a nice mascot for chess.

Agree with Anonymous from 11:54 who questions the need for a mascot – the chess pieces lend themselves well to this role already. No need to create another character.

I would recommend a mascot only if I were willing to dress up as one myself at the next tournament, which I guess pretty much means I’m not recommending one.

How about Mr. Ed as a mascot? He played chess.

No “mascot”, instead get creative with the pieces, such as:

[] A pawn casting a large shadow of a queen, onto a chess board that bends 90 degrees up a wall.
The pawn could be anthropomorphized somehow, perhaps with a face.

No mascot is needed, we already have Sam Sloan.

I like the idea of mascots for scholastic. I actually like a lot of the Mike Magnan stuff. Have two mascots, one for the boys and one for the girls.

One of my personal friends is my little black three year old cat Stormy. She is elegant and keeps her cool while at the same time she is very aware of what’s going on all around her. Anyway I think a black cat who looks like Stormy and behaves like Stormy would be a great mascot.
