What! Over a 500 point ELO gap between some of these players! In a WWC match!

No wonder a woman like Judit Polgar has no desire to play against such competition. Respect to a woman who would rather play against the best.

If the sponsors would step it up a bit, Judit would play.

No, I don’t think she would take much pride in whipping such weak female competition.

Still, she would probably enjoy the prize money there for such easy pickings.

Of course, she has a problem on the other side of the coin, ie. playing against superior men, at least in the major tournaments where the prize money resides.

She cuts a lonely figure in a way. But admirable, at least to me. My guess is we probably want find many women who can hold her own against the men she would have to eventually play.

Amazing to think about it. Is she the only pro player in any “sport” who takes on the men?

Her sister probably knows the answers to many of these questions.

Why are so many of the games stuck at move 10 or 15.

The Chiburdanidze game has been showing the same position for about an hour & the clocks are NOT moving.

If it is worth a whole lot of money, etc to bring all these players together, surely it is worth a little money to make sure that the games they play are available as they are played.

It’s as bad as the World Blitz Championship & I don’t understand why they scrimp on publicity when surely that is the whole point.

        I agree, Chris.

        Statistics At 7pm French Time
        Chiburdanidze Move 17
        Dzagnidze 1-0 Move 53
        Hou 1-0 Move 35
        Kosteniuk 1-0 Move 50
        Sebag Move 16
        Lahno Move 16
        Zhu Chen – No Game
        Dembo – Move 14
        Baquero Move 13
        Foisor Move 12

        Harika Move 19
        Khukashvili Move 17
        Lomineishvili Move 14
        Mkrtchian Move 14
        Muzychuk Zuriel Move 67 !!!!!
        Muzychuk Cori Move 13
        Oved Move 9
        Paehtz Move 14
        Romanko Move 11
        Ushenina Move 16

        Allaga Fernandez 0-1
        Baginskaite Move 16
        Demina Move 19
        Greeff 0-1 (Move 47)
        Mona Move 11
Soumya Move 28 – clock stopped no result
        Ding Move 15
        Pogonina Move 16
        Shadrina Move 17
        Yildiz Drawn 69 moves

So 30 games shown (& exactly why are 2 missing ?) & of these 6 are already decided, one is actually being whosn with the clocks running, one seems stuck at move 28 & NONE OF THE 22 OTHERS HAVE REACHED MOVE 20.

Not the fault of this site, but a pathetic piece of organization unworthy of the event and showing a total disrespect for the players.

Who can I complain to in the hope of getting something done ? Just tell me.

There is even less excuse for this than for the incomplete & incorrect games of the World Blitz a short while back.

If you put on a worldclass event then you have to make sure you have worldclass organizers.

Susan: why do you think there were almost no people in the openning in a countre with many players and trainers as de TCF say, 64 players and family was almost all you can see in the photographs, compare the de UNAM festival? !!

Regarding the first anonymous comment. The 500 point gap is between the highest seeds and the lowest seeds. This is a knockout tournament in which the top seed is paired against the bottom. Just like in a tennis tournament like Wimbledon, the early rounds are rarely interesting with the exception of a few dramatic upsets. Wait a few rounds and everyone will be rated in the 2500s.

ok – Judit is a great player. No doubt. But why cast aspersions on other top women?
She is as far from the top of all-player ratings as the next few women are from her.
So maybe the Kramniks and Carlsens of the world should refuse to play her? The top 5 players in the world would beat her like a drum in most games (see below). If they dont express any ‘no desire to play against such competition’ why are you extolling her sentiment of not playing the next few women in the rankings?
So please do say she is a great player, but that can be done without comments against the next top women.

        Polgar against the top men

        Anand: 28 to 10
        Carlsen: 6 to 0
        Aronian: 3 to 0
        Kramnik: 20 to 1
        Kasparov:12 to 1
