      World Championship in Oslo?

Anand, Magnus Carlsen, Norway, Oslo, World Championship

Norway mounts ‘best chess team ever’
      May 13, 2014

With chess world champion Magnus Carlsen among its members, Norway’s chess federation thinks it has put together the “best chess team ever” to play in the upcoming 2014 Chess Olympiad. It starts in Tromsø on August 1.

The team unveiled by the federation (Norges Sjakkforbund) on Monday includes Carlsen and grand masters Simen Agdestein, Jon Ludvig Hammer, Kjetil Lie and Leif Erlend Johannesen. “Magnus Carlsen will lead the way, but will have a great gathering of strong players behind him,” Thomas Robertsen, of the federation.

The federation also continues to mount efforts to host the next Chess World Championships in Oslo in November. The deadline for applying to arrange another meeting between Carlsen and Vishy Anand of India has already passed, without any city submitting a bid to the international chess federation FIDE.

With a new deadine expected, Carlsen’s manager Espen Agdestein (brother of grand master Simen) and the Norwegian chess federation’s president, Jøran Aulin-Jansson, met the government minister in charge of culture and sports Thorhild Widvey last week. They asked for state support to back a world championship in Oslo, which is expected to cost around NOK 40 million. Commercial sponsors are needed as well, with large companies Telenor, Yara and Statoil on the list of potential contributors.

With Nakamura playing board 1 for USA, NORWAY has no chance of winning even Carlsen is playing with them. Nakamura will crush Sauron very badly he might quit playing chess forever.

You might be mistaken… i think its Nakamura who is contemplating of quitting chess for good due to his 2 bad beating from Carlsen In Gashimov Memorial despite in a winning position 🙂 Nakamura should stop playing classical chess snd focus on blitz and rapid… he might have a chance to be champion for life (if carlsen is not playing lol)

In your dreams lol The reason why Nakamura did not want to play in Norway Chess because Carlsen is there who constantly beat him. Plus the fact that there are lots of strong players there. Heck Nakamura cant even beat Giri, what more the other players lol Afraid to lose ranking points so Navarra match is a safe match for him lol

The”Anonymous” Nakamura fan is, I guess, American and thus blinded by nationalism and the facts. This is dangerous as thesProbably wants to go back to Spain or take over Norwiche are traits of dictators, fascists etc. Or is he being ironic which is a trait difficult to detect in the text.

Nakamura will rock this tournament overwhelmingly. Its party time for him. So for the WANNABE’s get ready to be whacked.

I have to commend Nakamura fan. I am not sure if Nakamura even will qualify for world championship in his life time, but Nakamura fan has single handedly irritated opposition by his comments and thus defeated them. Come on guys dont get irritated and stop responding to him/her. He just makes obnoxious statements and tries to irritate people and succeeds in doing so when people respond to him/her.
