White is huge advantage in development, so there must be a combination.

        Candidates move are :

        a. Nf6+ (check)
        b. Qxe6+ (check)
        c. Rxd8+ (check)
        d. Bxe6 (take material)
        e. Nxh6 (take material)

If a. 1.Nf6+ Bxf6 is nothing for white

        b. 1.Qxe6+ fxe6 is nothing for white

        c. 1. Rxd8+ Kxd8 2. Nf6(intending to play Qe5 and Qd6) ..Ke7 3.Qe5 Rd8 4. Qc5+ Rd6 (the only move) 5. Ne4 (attacking rook) Qd4 6. Rxf7+ (forcing) ..Kd8 (if 6..Kxf7 then 7.Nxd6+ the black queen is loss; if 6..Ke8 the same 7.Nxd6+ winning) 7.Qxd6+ Qxd6 8. Nxd6 white is one knight ahead

        d. 1.Bxe6 Bxe6 is nothing for white

        e. 1. Nxh6 Qxe6 is nothing for white

        1.Rxd8+.Kxd8.2.Nf6!.

        >A-2……Qxf6.3.Rxf6 white is up a Q for N with a continuing mating attack.

        >B-2…..Kc7.3.Qe5+.
        >>B1-3….Kb6.4.Rb3#
        >>B2.3….Kd8.4.Qd6+.Bd7.5.Qxd7#

        >C-2…..Ke7.3.Qe5!.
        >>C1-3….Rd1.4.Qc5+.Rd6.5.Ne4!.Qd4 otherwise black loses R to remain piece behind with raging attack..6.Rxf7+!.
        >>>C11-6…….Kxf7.7.Nxd6+.Qxd6.8.Qxd6 and white has a Q for R with a easy win.
        >>>C12-6……Kd8.7.Qxd6+.Qxd6.8.Nd6 and white remains a piece up while black has no counterplay; white will win easily.

The satisfactory response for the Black would be: 2. … B6.
        3. D2 E7
        4. B4 C5 – Black is out of danger

        2. Nf6 B4
        3. QE5 There is no defense for Black.

I salute Caruana for such a cool chess puzzle.
