Wesley just won again with black! Susan was right, he’s getting more and more confident by the round. Kamsky is in a must-win situation with black now.
Gata Kamsky- Weswly So 0-1
Impressive, eve more after eliminating Ivanchuck.
Congrats Wesley for winning your first game with Kamsky
Wesley does not have a coach.
Just the computer.
Hello Susan?
Go Wesley Go! Nice win with black. You just need a a draw with white to advance to the next round!
Watching the top players play against the lesser-rated GM’s, I have the impression that these guys spend so much time playing and researching esoteric variations against each other, and then they are beaten with chess that looks very classical.
In other words, without the specialized preparation they bring to the board for the 10 or 15 top players, they don’t shine that brightly.
Ivanchuk is an exception—a universal player who understands all openings from a strategic viewpoint. Moro is also different.
My conclusion is that the fans would enjoy chess a lot more if the top players were not able to insulate themselves into a snug elite. Hell, it’s even more of an argument for Chess 960.
A true chess fan may say that he really gets tremendous enjoyment out of seeing what computer-based novelty Anand can introduce on move 25 to win a game without even breaking a sweat, but regular fans don’t appreciate that any more than classical music lovers like serial music.
Good job Wesley. Don’t let Kamsky off the hook now (I mean in the 2nd game).

The chances of winning the second game are remote now for Gata, but it’s still possible – he did it before – against Topo last year?
