$190,000 in scholarships and prizes awarded

Las Vegas International Chess Festival, Lubbock, SP World Open for Girls and Boys, SPICE, TTU

Scholarship winners: Sayaka Foley (AZ), Linda Diaz (NY), Joanne Koong (CA), Randel Eng (AZ), Sean Manross (CA) (each value at $36,000)

Due to the overwhelming turn out, we decided to award an extra scholarship at the 2009 SP World Open for Girls and Boys. Therefore, we ended up awarding a total of $190,000 in chess scholarships and prizes instead of $150,000 as advertised.

All pictures and details will be published within the next 48 hours right here. Big thanks to our partner, the Las Vegas International Chess Festival, our sponsors Texas Tech University, the Susan Polgar Foundation, ChessonDVD.com, and everyone who helped made this event great (Dr. Hal Karlsson, Jerry Perez, Peggy Flores, Tim Just, Glenn Panner, Elizabeth Tanner, David and Maureen Grimaud, etc.).

While Susan is helping kids and giving out nearly $200,000 in scholarships, the USCF doesn’t mention one word about her event on the USCF website. They instead published absolute lies about her and smear her reputation. This is the work of Bill Goichberg, Jim Berry and Bill Hall. They’re good at destroying the USCF. And they want people to vote for them for another 4 years.
