      Blitz chess tourney for typhoon victims

      MANILA – The Eugene Torre Chess Foundation blasts off with its one-day battle of wits at 11 a.m. today with the 6th Gathering of Knights and Kings blitz chess tournament at the Ramon Magsaysay Cubao High School.

      The tournament also named as “Chess for a Cause” is projected to help raise more funds for super typhoon Yolanda’s victims in the Visayas region.

      Torre hails from Iloilo where a part of the province suffered like the rest of the eastern and central Visayas.

      Registration starts at 11 a.m., said banker Alex Marquez who is one of the prime movers of the ETCF. He added that the tournament is open to all with Cesar Iligan and Asia’s first Grandmaster Torre of Fianchetto Realty Devt. Corp. as hosts.*PNA
