Bulgaria accepts FIDE’s condition to bid match

Bulgaria, Chess match, Gata Kamsky, Topalov

Bulgaria ready to host the match Kamsky – Topalov (update and official letter)
      Proposed dates 3rd to 15th February 2009
      Sofia, 10th November 2008
      Chessdom reports

Vesela Lecheva, Chairman of the State Agency for Youth and Sports, supported the bid of the Bulgarian Chess Federation to organize the semifinal match for the world championship title between Veselin Topalov and Gata Kamsky, Radio Gong reported.

Having in mind the importance of the competition and its complex preparation, and in order to provide optimal conditions for the players and the media, Bulgaria suggested this match to take place from 3rd to 15th February 2009. Possible hosts are Sofia, Plovdiv, Veliko Turnovo and Bansko.

In a letter sent to FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, Ms. Lecheva stressed that all necessary financial guarantees are ready. Meanwhile, Bulgaria is surprised with the change of financial parameters for the match, which expanded to 300 thousand U.S. dollars, without clear argumentation.

Official letter to FIDE about Kamsky – Topalov

A few hours after Vesela Lecheva’s statements on the national Darik radio station, official letter has been sent to FIDE. Here is the full text of the Kamsky – Topalov match proposal.

It seems this is not the final letter, but a previous one
As you read it, you can understand this.
No word for money or time, etc.

This is all a joke. IRS Bulgaria should investigate.

anyway – the current situation is not much improved – it is a pitty that such matches and commitments can not be kept by the chess federation!
A federation is there to support the activities and develope the sports itself. It seems FIDE is not doing so. On the contrary – FIDE tries to make money out of the chess activities instead of supporting and organizing them, without any little effort from their side. this is a shame for such an organization and should be reconsidered in some way. If necessary FIDE should step away and give chance to a better organization to fulfil these duties!

There is a letter (see chessdom) where Bulgarians accept to host the match even with the new higher prize fund.

Topalov vs. Shirov will happen in February.

The upset news is that Kirsan crashed
        on the way to airport.
        But nothing serious
