      Carlsen vs Kramnik in round 1 at Tal Memorial

      Mikhail Tal Memorial – Round 1 Pairings

      The 7th Mikhail Tal Memorial will take place from 7th to 19th June, 2012, in Moscow, Russia.

      The opening ceremony was held on 7th June at 18:00. Instead of the usual drawing of lots there was a blitz tournament to determine the starting numbers in the main event. The numbers are assigned according to the places taken in the blitz standings.

      The time control was 3′+2” replay games with analysis.

      Final standings: 1. Morozevich, 2. Carlsen – 6,5 each; 3. Grischuk, 4. Radjabov – 5,5; 5. Aronian, 6. Nakamura – 5; 7.Tomashevsky – 3,5; 8. McShane – 3; 9. Kramnik – 2,5; 10. Caruana – 2.

      Thus the round 1 pairings of the Tal Memorial are:

      Morozevich – Caruana
      Carlsen – Kramnik
      Grischuk – McShane
      Radjabov – Tomashevsky
      Aronian – Nakamura

      Live games with analysis (8th June at 15:00 Moscow time)

      Mikhail Tal Memorial 2012 – Regulations

      The blitz tournament offered a separate prize fund of 15,000 euros.
      The prizes are distributed as follows:
      1st place 5 000 EUR / 2nd place 3 000 EUR / 3rd place 2 000 EUR / 4th place 1 500 EUR / 5th place 1 000 EUR / 6th place 700 EUR / 7th place 600 EUR / 8th place 500 EUR / 9th place 400 EUR / 10th place 300 EUR
