        It’s really not wise to copy the results tables from official site (you are not the only one to do this)

        1) They are constantly ignoring table 42

        2) Tie-breaking system is completely different (it is NOT 2 rapid + 2 blitz + armageddon)

        2400 and 2500 rating players…contesting the Qualification for the WCC? Is this a joke?

        You know, most of those players actually qualified for this World Cup, whereas your “super elite” mostly gets seeded into a competition without ever qualifying for it.

        As a matter of fact, some of the 2400-2600 rated players are organizer wildcards, others qualified through continental championships. In any case, it doesn’t distort the competition much because they get quickly eliminated – unless they are worth more than their rating suggests (Yu Yangyi!?). Four years ago, a player rated 2570 made it to round 4, his name was Magnus Carlsen.

        As far as the “super elite” is concerned, many qualified by rating – which means they demonstrated their chess capabilities, though not in the official qualifiers.
