      GM Lazaro Bruzon Heads Roster at Chess Tournament
      SANTA CLARA, Cuba, May 27 (acn)

      Cuban national champion GM Lazaro Bruzon, with the second highest ELO in the Caribbean nation, is the main figure at the 19th Guillermo Garcia in Memoriam tournament that starts today in this city.

      Bruzon (2,617 ELO) heads the elite group, in which other promising figures of Cuban chess like Yuniesky Quesada (2596), Fidel Corrales (2574), Holden Hernández (2573) and Neuris Delgado (2572).

      The main group includes Cuban International Master Rodney Perez, and his counterparts Alden Escobar (Colombia), Ernesto Real (Argentina), and Karsten Rasmussen (Denmark), and also Peruvian GM Emilio Cordoba.

      During the first day the most attractive matches will be Delgado-Pérez, Corrales-Escobar, Real-Quesada, Bruzón-Córdoba and Hernández-Rasmussen. This will be a round robin event.

      Erie Reyes, Cuba´s national commissioner of the sport, pointed out that an Open event will be celebrated simultaneously, attended by Cuban GMs Jesús Nogueiras (2 570) and Walter Arencibia (2 519).
