How lovely, unfortunately he also took a 9 move draw and a 5 move draw.

Gata Kamsky is the winner on speed playoff from this year’s tournament. He and Izoria, Ibragimov and Stripunsky all finished with 7-2. Kamsky and Izoria were 1-2 on tiebreaks and Gata won a 29 move blitz game as black.

Funny how so many players just quit before the final 1 or 2 rounds. I have never seen this in Europe. Its normal to finish a tournament even if you are not doing very well.

Is there any penalty for this kind of behavior? Or more of the the ‘I pay a big entry fee I’ll play or not play as and when I feel like it’?

how stupid can you be? it is a free country. why would someone be penalized for withdrawing a tournament they paid to play in. too many idiots think they are entitled as nonpaying fans to have GM’s be their dancing monkeys. perhaps it is time that the games not be available to view. it’s amazing how much people bitch about draws, withdrawing, etc. Kamsky and Nakamura pay a lot in expense to pay in these swisses. you idiot “fans” pay nothing and are entitled to nothing, so it is time to shut the hell up with your baseless complaints.
