LIVE Topalov – Kamsky game 3 commentary

Bulgaria, Chess match, Gata Kamsky, Sofia, Topalov

I will be doing LIVE commentary of the Topalov – Kamsky game 3 tomorrow. The game will begin at 3 pm Sofia (Bulgaria) time (8 am NY time and 7 am Texas time).

This is a critical game for Gata. He is down by one with only six to go. He was out prepared in the opening in the first 2 games. He has been having time pressure issue. He also has black in game 3. He must at least hold in this game.

What is your game 3 prediction?

Gata will be taken by the fools mate.

Topa will push Gata with white while he’s 1 down to try pushing the match further away from Kamsky.

But Gata is a solid fighter, resourceful, good at counter-attack, more important he will be desperate to hit back! And if he keeps his clock in check he could very well win with black.

Prediction: Game 3 will be a draw. A tough draw.

Topalov will try to stabilize his advantage and thus put heavier psychological pressure on Kamsky. He will not take risks and he will get the draw with the white pieces. 1/2

My guess: another classical Gruenfeld, and a draw after Kamsky survived his time trouble on move 40.

I think we will see another Grunfeld. My prediction is draw.

Probably a draw, yet Topa will easily win the match. 5-2 is my prediction.

I’ve got this instinct that Topalov has now window open for more speculative game – maybe some speculative line the team has come up with in preparation. I think he will increase the tension now that Kamsky is already shown to be in troubles. Excellent opening choices by Topalov.
