From the looks of it, White is dead lost. I don’t recall if medieval chess had pawn-promotion rules. I’ll have to dig up my copy of Gollon.
Like the chess diagram icon set named “Handy Symmato”, this set of icons has a 180 degree rotational difference between the White vs. Black pieces.
